Da tempo gli scienziati sospettano che gli esseri umani non vedono il mondo in maniera continua, ma in rapidi “scatti” isolati che messi in fila ci danno l’impressione di una visione continua. Ora, un nuovo studio dei ricercatori dell’University of Glasgow in Scozia
rivela che il corpo umano effettivamente fa esperienza della realtà in brevissimi cicli ritmici di attività cerebrale.
La ricerca è stata pubblicata sulla rivista Current Biology. “I ritmi sono un processo intrinseco dei sistemi biologici. Al di là di quelli più
ovvi, come il ciclo circadiano di 24 ore, il nostro cervello va incontro ad oscillazioni cicliche di attività neurale”, ha detto Gregor Thut, neurologo a capo dello studio.
“La nostra ricerca si è concentrata su un ritmo particolare, uno associato al funzionamento della corteccia visiva con una frequenza di 10 volte al secondo. Tramite scansione cerebrale, abbiamo rilevato questo ciclo in tutti i casi di percezione visiva a cui abbiamo sottoposto dei volontari.
Questo significa che l’essere umano non percepisce la realtà circostante in un unico flusso continuo – ha concluso – ma come un insieme di scatti separati sincronizzati con le oscillazioni cicliche del cervello.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
