I bambini obesi hanno problemi di cuore sin dall’asilo

I bambini fortemente obesi hanno già dei segni di affaticamento dell’apparato cardiovascolare quando sono all’asilo. Lo ha scoperto uno studio olandese pubblicato dalla rivista ‘Archives of Disease in Childhood’, secondo cui già tra i 2 e i 12 anni si notano alcune
patologie, come la pressione alta, che si considerano tipiche degli adulti.
I ricercatori del VU University Medical Centre di Amsterdam hanno studiato i dati di 307 bambini presi dalla Dutch Paediatric Surveillance Unit tra il 2005 e il 2007, alla ricerca dei segni premonitori dei problemi cardiaci nei bimbi fortemente obesi. – “Ben il 62% dei bambini molto obesi sotto i 12 anni aveva già uno o più fattori di rischio cardiovascolare – scrivono gli autori – più di metà era
affetto da pressione alta, ma c’erano anche casi di colesterolo alto e di glucosio elevato nel sangue, una condizione che porta al diabete di tipo 2. Condizioni del genere possono portare a vere e proprie malattie cardiovascolari nei giovani adulti”.
Nei bambini di due anni, spiega l’articolo, un indice di massa corporea maggiore di 20.5 è da considerare sintomo di forte obesità, mentre a 18 anni il valore limite è 35.
