L’assunzione di vitamina E, sia da alimenti che attraverso integratori, può abbassare il rischio di ammalarsi di cancro al fegato. La ricerca è stata condotta dallo Shanghai Cancer Institute e pubblicata sulla rivista “Journal of the National Cancer Institute”. Il cancro al fegato è la terza causa più comune di mortalità per cancro al mondo, il quinto cancro più diffuso negli uomini e il settimo nelle donne.
Circa l’85 per cento dei cancri al fegato si registrano nei paesi in via di sviluppo, con il 54 per cento solo in Cina. Gli studiosi hanno analizzato dati provenienti da un totale di 132.837 individui coinvolti nello Shanghai Women’s Health Study fra il 1997 e il 2000 e nello Shanghai Men’s Health Study fra il 2002 e il 2006.
I risultati hanno mostrato che l’assunzione di vitamina E abbassava il rischio di ammalarsi di epatocarcinoma, nelle persone di mezza eta’ o piu’ anziane.
