MIcrochirurgia: con il bisturi laser interventi senza incisioni

Una nuova tecnologia di luce focalizzata potrebbe aprire la strada a chirurgia laser che lascia la pelle intatta. I ricercatori del California Institute of Technology sono riusciti infatti a focalizzare la luce dentro un tessuto biologico alla profondità di 2,5 millimetri, battendo il record precedente di 1 millimetro.
La nuova tecnica potrebbe essere utilizzata per praticare degli interventi di microchirugia al di sotto della pelle, senza praticare incisioni, e secondo i ricercatori in teoria l’azione del laser potrebbe essere estesa addirittura a qualche centimetro. “Abbiamo espanso un lavoro precendete dell’Università di Washington, che è stato in grado di diffondere la luce attraverso i tessuti in modo da vederci attraverso senza praticare tagli” ha spiegato Changhuei Yang, ingegnere elettrico a capo dello studio pubblicato su Nature Communications.
“Potenzialmente, questa tecnica laser potrebbe permetterci di effettuare chirurgia senza bisturi, visualizzando sotto la pelle la presenza di tessuti da rimuovere ed eliminandoli lasciando intatta la pelle”, ha concluso Yang.
